Kane ‘really happy’ with Bayern’s win in Madrid

“We knew before the game all the hype around it. Coming to Madrid and the Bernabeu and trying to get a result is always a difficult thing to do,” Kane told TNT Sports.

“We played some really good stuff today, for sure. Some areas we could have done better, as well; maybe the final ball and the final finish – we had some good chances there.

“But credit to them, they did as well, and Manuel [Neuer] made some really good saves. Overall, we can be really happy with the win.”

‘We’re still alive’: Rudiger after Real Madrid’s defeat

“We came out after half-time and screwed up again; both goals we conceded were gifts,” Rudiger told Movistar TV. “In the second half, we needed more.

“We’ve spoken about these things, not losing simple balls. But it happened in the two goals. At this level, it’s very dangerous.

“We’re still alive, with Mbappe’s goal. We had occasions to score more goals, too, but it ended as it did.

Kylian Mbappe is three goals short of the most goals in a single Champions League campaign, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting 17 for Madrid in 2013-14.

Ronaldo scored 16 for Los Blancos in 2015-16; Robert Lewandowski (Bayern in 2019-20), Ronaldo (Madrid in 2017-18) and Karim Benzema (Madrid in 2021-22) also each scored 15 in a season.

The first leg of the quarterfinals wraps up on Wednesday, as Barcelona host Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou, while Paris Saint-Germain take on Liverpool at Parc des Princes.

Bayern Munich hold on narrowly for a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarterfinal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
